Driving License Procedure in Punjab:
The DLIMS has been utilized to centralise the procedure of issuing a driver's license across Punjab's several districts. Furthermore, residents may follow the status of their licenses and learn how to apply for a license while sitting at home.
Procedure for Driving License:
Any male or female of the minimum age of 18 years can apply for a driving license; however, prior to visiting a D.L Branch, an Online Pre-Appointment is required. After getting a pre-appointment token, the applicant must show (in person) at the relevant driving license branch with their original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC). Following registration, the applicant must appear before a medical officer for fitness, as required by the Motor Vehicle Ordinance of 1965
Following are the procedure for driving license
- Online Pre-Appointment
- Appearance on Front Desk for verification of Pre-Appointment
- Screening & Registration Process & SNAP
- Medical Examination (Doctor)
- Fee deposition process (NBP Counter)
- Written & Oral Test Process (on computer)
- Road Test (Applicant is required to bring his own Vehicle for the Category of Motor Cycle & Motor Car in accordance to the Motor Vehicle Rule 1969 (Section 8(2) Sub Section 7)
- Obtaining the final receipt of Driving License.)
Requirements for Driving License
- The age of the applicant should not be less than 18 years
- Valid Original CNIC Card
- The applicant should be fit and with 6×6 eyesight
Age Criteria
- Non Commercial: 18 years & above.
- Commercial: 21 years & above.
- HTV Endorsement: 22 years & above.
Note:
- For the driving test, the candidate must bring his or her own vehicle (which must now be registered in his or her name).
- If the applicant fails the written or driving test, he or she may reappear for the test after 42 days (by following the same procedure) as specified in the third schedule of the Motor Vehicle Ordinance-1965. The requirements will be explained to the candidate on the spot by certified testing authorities. The DLS system will renew your driver's license for an additional (05) years from the date of the transaction. Driving license experience of at least (03) years is required for endorsement in the HTV category
Test of competency for Permanent Driving License
- Theoretical Test consists of (25) questions and requires (18) right answers for receiving (72) points out of (100).
- The third schedule of the Motor Vehicle Ordinance -1965 specifies the requirements for a road test. The requirements will be explained to the candidate on the spot by certified testing authorities.
- The DLS system will renew your driver's license for an additional (05) years from the date of the transaction. Driving license experience of at least (03) years is required for endorsement in the HTV category.
- Renewal of a driver's license Only from that day forward will the DLS system renew your driver's license for another (05) years. For the endorsement of the HTV category, you must have at least 03 years of driving experience.
- (NOTE) After passing the competency exams, the applicant can acquire a computerized driving license valid for three or five years.
- Following are the critical diseases and disabilities that absolutely disqualify a person from obtaining a license to drive a motor vehicle.
- Epilepsy
- Lunacy
- Leprosy
- Heart disease with a risk of sudden heart attack or fainting.
- Inability to distinguish a series of seven letters and figures in white on a black board from a distance of twenty-five yards in sufficient daylight.
- Color blindness, or the inability to readily distinguish the red and green colors.
- Night blindness.
