Now that you have your learner's permit, the roads want you to take the next step. But how do you turn that "L" on your license into a real driver's license? Let's make it easy to understand.
Before you start this exciting journey, make sure you have the following:
Each type of driver's license costs a different amount. You pay the fee after you pass both the written and practice tests.
Category | Test Fee (Rs.) | Issue Fee for 5 Years (Rs.) | Total Fee (Rs.) |
---|---|---|---|
Car | 150 | 750 | 900 |
Motorcycle | 50 | 500 | 550 |
LTV | 150 | 750 | 900 |
HTV | 200 | 1000 | 1200 |
Motorcycle + Car | 200 | 750 | 950 |
People aged 50 and up or those applying for a regular driver's license are the only ones who have to take a medical test. It needs to be signed by a doctor who works in a local hospital or tehsil hospital.
Are you ready to show what you've learned? No need to make an appointment; just walk up to any driving test place, get a token, and you'll be on your way to getting a regular license
Prepare for a multiple-choice test on a computer that will test your understanding of road signs. You need at least a 6/10 on the theory test to pass. If you fail, don't worry—you have 42 days to try again.
Now is the time to really hit the road. You can take the practice test with an inspector in either your own car or theirs.
If you pass both tests, your regular driver's license will be sent right to your door in 15 days. Think about how free you'll be!
